What is the name “El Gallo Catrin” all about?

Isn’t this just a place to get a haircut?

It starts with a game night. El Catrin originates from the Mexican board game Lotería. It is one of the characters symbolizing a high class, well-dressed man with sophistication. A man that keeps his word and does not fold under pressure. He is very charismatic and will be the kind of man that you would have as your best man at your wedding.

Growing up my mom would refer to my dad as Gallo, shortening his last name Gallegos. My Dad (pictured with me) has been a huge support in becoming a barber. To be able to incorporate him and our family into this means so much.

El Gallo Catrin is where family and friends, new and old, can catch up, play a game of LoterÍa, and yes-get a haircut too.

Who we are

When things are meant to be, they are meant to be. Friends come into your life for a reason. Jesse met Victoria through his husband Patrick 11 years ago. During that time Jesse worked with Victoria in her salon in different roles, from cleaning and reception to assisting with clients.

Recently a rare space opened up inside Victoria’s salon and their friendship has resulted in the perfect workspace for El Gallo Catrin Barber Studio.

Victoria Lobb is the owner of Cut Me Loose and is a colorist and hair shaping expert.
